Calculate and analyze data in your network model, and visualize the results

Updated over 5 months ago

Neara's flexible and powerful Reports features enables you to calculate and analyze data in your network model, and visualize the results.

Common reports include:

  • Pole, Stay/Guy, Conductor, Span, Beam, and Insulator reports;

  • Structural engineering reports;

  • Clearance reports;

  • and more.

This article provides an overview of the main report features and capabilities, with links to detailed information.

If you operate a very large network, the Neara team will work with you to prepare Reports and visualizations that are optimized for wide-scale analysis. Contact us for more information.

Custom Reports

You can create a custom Report based on a wide variety of report templates.

Report tables

Tables are the default format for viewing data in reports, and provide customisable detail:

In this format the table columns are configurable, sortable, filterable, and can be rearranged and renamed.

The cells of the table can contain a variety of content including:

  • Text and numbers

  • Formulas

  • Hyperlinks - to navigate directly to items in your network and more

  • Controls - like checkboxes that represent on/off or yes/no, or color pickers that modify how a Report's data is visualized in the Perspective and other views

  • Icons

  • Progress bars - for example, a report might includes rows with cells that display updates from other reports or activities

You can modify columns to display a value if they are empty, populate columns based on specific data fields, and export table data in a variety of formats.

Report visualizations

The data in reports can be used to power visualizations that are overlaid on the Perspective, Profile, Analytics Map, and other views of your network,

For example, you might create a report that visually highlights, in the 3D Perspective View, conductors with vegetarian encroachment issues. As data in the report updates, the visualizations update:

In this example, there is a link between the data in the table and the color-coding applied to the network in the Perspective View. This allows you to, for example, filter the report's table to show the spans with the highest-risk of encroachment, and then click a row to zoom directly to that span in the 3D Perspective View.

As another example, you might create a report that incorporates weather data to highlight the geographic regions of your network affected by floodwaters, flagging potential clearance issues as a result:

Neara's report visualization options are flexible and can generate colors, text, icons, 2D and 3D shapes, and more.

Turn visualizations on and off

You can selectively show or hide data from the report's table in those views by clicking the eye icon in the column header:

Interactive Parameter controls

Neara Reports are especially useful for performing “what-if” type visual analysis. To make that even easier, you can add interactive Parameter controls that make it easy to modify the data variables used in a report.

For example, you might add a slider that adjusts the conductor temperature, or wind pressure. As you adjust the sliders, the variables in the report update, and you can see the effect in the visualizations on your network in real-time:
