Export a Custom Report as DXF

Neara supports the export of Custom Reports that contain 3D spatial data to a variety of formats, including DXF.

2D objects only

This is particularly useful if a spacial boundary has been modeled in Neara, for example an obstruction, and you wish to export it for use in another piece of software.

  1. Open or create a Custom Report in the project workspace, for example an Obstructions report:

  2. Select the Export button in the top-right of the report, and then Export to DXF:

The report will be exported with 2D objects:

3D objects (and 2D objects if applicable)

There may be times that a 3D model needs to be exported for use in other software. For example a design contains poles, conductors and an obstruction under various environmental conditions and must be passed on to a third party for use in their workflow.

  1. Create Custom Reports in the project workspace, for example:

    1. Obstructions

    2. Poles

    3. Spans_Environments

Note: the report names are free text fields and can be updated or amended as desired, but need to be intelligible as they will be required in later steps.

  2. If applicable, filter the reports so that only relevant information is included in the DXF export

    1. For example, filter the Spans_Environment report to include only the relevant environments and avoid conductors in all conditions to be part of the export.

Note: it is important to ensure the reports are open with the correct filters applied before proceeding to the next steps as these will be retained during export.

  3. Navigate to Report in the top menu and select Export Custom Reports.

  4. In the pop up update Format to DXF and of the options that appear below, ensure only the 3D Model Objects option is checked.

  5. In the list of reports shown, select those you want to be part of the export.

Note: Only Custom Reports that contain 3D spatial data can be selected.

  6. Click Download at the bottom of the pop up.

  7. The downloaded DXF file will contain the 3D objects and can be imported to another program that accepts DXFs and will contain 3D objects.
