Reclassify a point selection

Use the Point Cloud tool to reclassify a point selection

Updated over 3 weeks ago

After defining a point selection and filtering it down, reclassify the selected points using the Reclassify (R) action in the Point Cloud tool.

It is important to note that only visible points can be selected and reclassified. Ensure all relevant point cloud classes are visible and displayed at full density using the Layers panel.

Reclassify (R)

The Reclassify (R) action reclassifies all selected points to the selected Classification Type.

In the example below, a misclassified fence is corrected using the Point Cloud tool.

In the Perspective view, filter the view such that only the fence is visible.

Select the points that should be classified as fence.

Choose a Classification Type by either using the dropdown in the Options section or using the keybindings (0 ~ 9). Keybindings can be configured in the Reclassification Keybinds section.

Click Reclassify to fence (R) to reclassify all selected points to fence.

The result can be seen in the Perspective view.

Revert (D)

The Revert (D) action can be used to revert all reclassifications made on the selected points. The classification type of the selected points will change back to their original classification.

For the fence example, clicking Revert (D) will result as follows:

Save reclassifications to the project

To retain reclassifications across sessions, ensure that the option to save reclassifications to the project is enabled.

In the Design Settings in the Project menu, check Save Point Cloud Reclassifications Inside Project is enable.

Reclassifications are now saved to the project, and can be exported from the project.

To learn how to export a point selection and any reclassifications applied, see Export a point selection
