Define a point selection

Use the Point Cloud tool to define a point selection for viewing, reclassifying or exporting

Updated over 3 weeks ago

The Point Cloud tool is used to view, reclassify and export point cloud. The first step is to define a point selection.

In the default Box Selection mode, make a selection by clicking one or more points. To select multiple points, hold Shift and select points, or click and drag.

Tool and Selection Modes

The tool offers two tool modes: Selection, and Section mode. Navigate quickly between the modes using A.

Each tool mode has three selection modes: Box Selection and Polygon Selection. Navigate quickly between the modes using S.

Tool mode: Selection

In this mode select points in the Perspective, Plan, or Profile views using one of three selection modes: Box Selection and Polygon Selection.

  • Box Selection - Select one or more points. Select multiple points by holding shift, or click and drag to make a box selection.

  • Polygon Selection - Select points by drawing a polygon. Right click to closes the polygon, and right click again (once the polygon is closed) to complete the selection.

Tool mode: Section

In this mode define a corridor section in the Perspective or Plan views, see the filtered points displayed in the Profile view, and make further selections within this corridor using the regular selection modes in the Profile view.

  1. Define a corridor section in the Perspective or Plan views.

    1. Click to start drawing the center line of the corridor.

    2. Move the mouse and click to extend the line to the desired length.

    3. Move the mouse perpendicularly and click to extend the box to define the width of the selection. The selection will extend above and below ground.

  2. Make further selections within this corridor in the Profile view.

    1. Use regular selection modes (Box Selection or Polygon Selection) as described above. Note, there is no need to switch back to Selection mode to do so.
