Select and view insulator information
Updated over 3 months ago

You can select an insulator in the Perspective view, rather than the structure it is attached to, such as a pole.

Navigate to the Properties panel and ensure that under Selectable types the option for Structures is checked and the dropdown is set to Component.

When you hover over an insulator it will turn green and you can select it by left-clicking your mouse. Neara will display the Component Properties, Insulator Properties and Offset in the Properties panel.

Component Properties summarises the insulator type as well as the assembly and structure it is connected to.

Clicking on the Component will open the Component Library and display the selected insulator’s information on the right hand side.

Clicking on the Assembly will open the Assemblies Library and display the assembly that includes the insulator on the right hand side.

If you want to view the properties of the structure the insulator is attached to, click on the linked text next to Structure (Number - Label). This will also select the structure in the Perspective view.

To return to viewing the insulator’s properties, right-click anywhere in the Perspective view and then left-click on the insulator again in the Perspective view.

Insulator Properties summarises the strain section the insulator is attached to.

If you want to view the properties of the conductor the insulator is attached to, click on the linked text next to Strain Section. This will also select the strain section in the Perspective view.

To return to viewing the insulator’s properties, right-click anywhere in the Perspective view and then left-click on the insulator again in the Perspective view.

Offset shows the longitudinal, transversal and vertical offset relative to the assembly the insulator is attached to. You can manually update these fields to alter the position of the insulator relative to the assembly. To return the insulator to its original position, simply revert all values to zero.
