Split conductors
Updated over 8 months ago

The Split Conductor or Construction tool on the toolbar is used to split a conductor at a specific construction in order to reduce loads, or to fine tune the model:

There are two options when using this tool.

Split to seperate conductors sharing a single construction

This is used when the line is turning and alters the construction from a single crossarm to a vertical assembly to reduce horizontal load on the crossarm.

To use this click the Split Conductor or Construction tool on the toolbar, and select the Split to seperate conductors sharing a single construction option in the Properties panel in the sidebar:

Click the pole on which the conductor is to be split. Neara will automatically model the new construction.

Split to separate conductors on separate constructions

If instead you select the Split to separate conductors on separate constructions option on the Properties panel, Neara modifies the construction into two seperate crossarms so that different attachment heights and/or constructions can be set for both of the crossarms:

Adjust the height of the separate constructions

Once the conductor has been split and separated into two constructions, you are able to adjust the height of the separate constructions.

To do so select the pole with the Move and Select tool on the toolbar.

Adjust the attachment heights, and change constructions as required in the Attach Points section in the Properties panel in the sidebar:
