Alignments

This is a new feature that has been rolled out to a limited number of customers initially. In the future this will be rolled out to all customers.

Alignments is a concept where structures can be marked as Control structures which control the alignment and Inline structures that will stay between the Control structures and will automatically move when a Control structure is moved.

The Alignment Type is found in the pole properties tab.

The four options for the Alignment Type are described below:

Alignment Type

Function

Auto

By default when stringing all structures are set to auto (unless using the standard structure long stringer).

If there is a Control structure either side of an Auto structure then the Auto structure will behave line an Inline structure.

Inline

Inline structures will only move back and forward along the alignment when a user clicks on the structure and tries to drag it. They can have a transverse offset applied which can be reset to zero with the arrow.

Control

Any Inline or Auto structures between two Control structures are treated as on an alignment between the origin of the Control structures. This means that if one of the Control structures is moved then all the Inline/Auto structure will also be moved with them and the ratio of the span lengths will be maintained.

Free

Free structures are not part of any alignment so even if they are between two Control structures and one of the Control structures is moved they will remain in the same place. Likewise if they are between two Control structures they can be freely moved off the alignment.
