Neara can calculate the tension required to pull underground cables through conduits

Calculation method

Cable Pull Calculations are done according to the IEEE Paper: A General Method for the Calculation of Pipe Cable Pulling Forces; and Annexure A of 1989 ESAA Guide to the Installation of Cables Underground.

The Cable Pull Reports calculates both the forwards and backwards tension of the cable, as there differences between pulling a cable up or down a slope.

Additional results such as side wall pressure and cable tension as a percentage of the cable breaking load are avaliable.

How to access cable tension results

Open the Report Manager tab. If it's not visible in your workspace, click the (+) next to a tab and choose Report Manager on the popup:

On the Report Manager panel, click New custom report and in the popup set Datasource to UgCables. Give the report a meaningful name:

The report table will load in a new tab. Scroll to the far right of the table to view the tension columns:

To visualize the results in the design in the Perspective view, click on the eye icon in a column's header:
