Review & export Project settings as a template
Confirm these before working in a design
Table of Contents
We recommend you review these common settings when starting a new Project so that Neara is optimized for your requirements.
You can save this collection of settings as a model file which can be used as a template for you and others to use as a quick-start on new projects.
Review configurations
Design settings
From the menu, select Project > Design Settings:
In particular, we recommend you confirm the Units of measurement at the bottom of the Settings popup: select either US Customary or Metric.
For more information, see Project Design Settings.
Clearance requirements
Neara helps you measure the ground clearance of the powerlines in your design under different environmental conditions.
More about measuring ground clearances
To set your clearance requirements click the Clearances menu item. You can define different clearance lines here that will appear in the Profile view as a solid blue line:
Environments
The Environments menu provides access to environmental variables for your model.
More about using and configuring Environments
Click the Environments menu to view, edit, and add new environments. Each environment has a corresponding colour which is useful when observing sag lines and blowout lines.
Library
The Library is where you create your poles, conductors, constructions and components.
Click the Library menu item, and then one of the submenus to view and modify the various entries.
Export settings as a template
Now that you have optimized your project settings, you can export them as a file to use as a starting point for future projects.
A template is a model file that can be loaded each time a new design is created, so that custom libraries, environment settings and clearance rules can be saved and used without having to create them each time.
Click the Project menu item and choose Export to model file.
This will generate and download a Neara .power file that you can save to your device, or share with another user.
Starting a new project from a template
To base a new project on a template model file, select the From a model file tile on the Home screen, and select the exported model file when prompted:
Neara will automatically import the project. If it is being imported into an existing design, you will have the option between adding to existing data, or overwriting it.
