The Home screen & your first Project
Table of Contents
Neara provides designers with strong integrated design software that covers everything from scoping to project submission. Our suite of design and management tools empower all styles of workflows for distribution and transmission projects.
In Neara, you typically work in Projects. Each Project can contain data, models, settings, workspaces and more.
The Home screen
The Home screen is where you access your existing and recent Projects, Project templates, and options to create new Projects. After you have logged in and done the first-time setup click the Home tab to see your Home screen:
Your Home screen may show different items depending on your organization's setup, but will typically include the following sections:
- Start lists options to create a new Project from network model, from a model file, potentially from templates used by your organization, or a preset blank project
- Recent shows Projects that you have recently created or accessed
- Sample Designs contains example Projects that you can explore to familiarise yourself with Neara
- Tutorials includes helpful videos that demonstrate essential Neara concepts and features
Creating a new, blank Project
Click on the Preset File 1 tile in the Start section to use as the basis of a new, empty Project that you can use to explore and test out different features.
You'll be prompted to give your Project a name, and confirm your details. We recommend giving it a descriptive name that makes it easy to identify in future:
Renaming a project
If you need to update the Project information later, choose Project menu > Project properties:
Starting a new project from a template
You can save a collection of project settings as a model file which can be used as a template for you and others to use as a quick-start on new projects.
To base a new project on an existing template model file rather than the default Neara configuration, select the From model file tile on the Home screen, and select the exported model file when prompted:
Saving a project
Your Neara project is automatically saved every couple of minutes to the cloud. To download a copy of your project settings to your device (*.power file), choose Project menu > Export to model file
