Maximum Bending Stress / Material Strength

Also known as the material strength

Updated over 8 months ago

The maximum bending stress (also known as the material strength) is the maximum amount of stress that can be applied to a material before the fibres in the material will break down.

This is typically a known property of the material and hence designers ensure that the forces and moments on an object do cause any part of the object to exceed the maximum bending stress.
